How it all began
My experience with Massage started early. I was an elite athlete from the age of 20 and required daily sessions with osteopaths, massage therapists, physiotherapists, acupuncturists and body movement therapists trainers. It was a glorious time for self inquiry about how the body works in its great states and also in its states of unrest and unbalance. I learnt first hand what it’s like to have many injuries to many parts of my body and what is required for rehabilitation
I got firsthand experience of so many different injuries to all parts of my body that I really do understand the need for balance in life. The massages that I got were mainly focused on recovery and rehabilitation. I never really got massages for relaxation or enjoyment. I feel like this time in my life was a learning and research and development period for a career that I didn’t realise I was going to have in Massage Therapy. When I treat and work on people now I realise a lot of my techniques and skills were learned on the table with these experts. I feel like I’m channelling the techniques and the skills of these great therapists in everyone of my treatments. I only recently began to study Massage 2 years ago during COVID and quickly found that this has been a project long in gestation. A career I didn’t know I was gonna have… but a career I’ve been preparing for for a very long time. Im now in training to become a massage therapy teacher also which is another surprising gift with purchase on this new path.
Sensual massage was something that only arrived by accident one day. A client had asked me whether or not I did Sensual Massage and I asked innocently “what is this?” He was a sensual massage therapist himself and he gently showed me and explained the theory behind it.
It’s extraordinary to me that the physicality and awareness that I have of treating body matched with my love for physical intimacy connection and passion and touch has helped me to find a new place of authenticity in myself and from reviews I’ve heard that this gets passed on through by treatments.
Have I mentioned I love my work? ;)
